Apple Inventory Outs iPhone 4S as the iPhone 5?

Published

on

Yesterday, we saw a new iPhone 4 and a new iPod touch show up in Apple’s inventory system suggesting that Apple might be preparing to announce a cheaper iPhone 4 model alongside a new iPhone at its October 4th iPhone event. And while that’s exciting, what we really wanted to see show up was the iPhone 5 and that has apparently just happened as 9to5Mac is reporting that the newer iPhone model has hit Apple’s inventory system.

This new iPhone is the N94 and has apparently been confirmed to have an A5 dual-core processor. It should also feature 1GB of RAM, an 8MP camera and will have that exclusive Assistant voice control as well as Nuance Dictation speech-to-text built right in.

iPhone 5

Now, here is the interesting part.

It’s very possible that Apple might actually be calling the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S.

The iPhone 4S model number in Apple’s inventory system is similar to one that surfaced on a ‘iPhone 4S’ packaging label, the one that you see above. It could be coincidence but it’s also very possible that we might see a device called the ‘iPhone 4S’ launch as the new iPhone and not a device called the ‘iPhone 5.’

So, keep this in mind for Tuesday. The iPhone 4S aka the iPhone 5 might be launching alongside an 8GB version of the iPhone 4 that may or may not have improvements over the original model.

Also, keep this in mind.

Apple has done a fantastic job of keeping its announcements shrouded in mystery.
