Microsoft Canada Leaks Nokia Sabre Windows Phone Name

In addition to Nokia’s Sea Ray Windows Phone, which is similar to the Nokia N9 MeeGo smartphone handset from a hardware design perspective, it appears that Nokia may have another Windows Phone handset codenamed the Nokia Sabre. The name of the phone was leaked as part of a contest by Microsoft Canada. The Windows Phone OS-maker says that the retail value of the phones to be won in the contest–which includes the Samsung Yukon, Samsung Wembley, Nokia Sea Ray, and Nokia Sabre–is about $600.

The Nokia Sea Ray is the most definitive phone on the list as it has been leaked a number of times. It’s unclear at this time what the two phone models from Samsung are, but given that Samsung had recently announced the Samsung Focus S and the high-end Focus W, these models could be codenames for these Mango-powered phones.

Prior leaks suggest that the Nokia Sabre will have a 3.7-inch display with a micro SIM card. The device may be a mid-range offering and it’s rumored that AT&T may offer the Sabre starting mid-year 2012 in its lineup.

Since posting the contest page, Microsoft Canada has revised the page so that it is now devoid of any device names.

With Nokia World scheduled to happen later in October, we expect Nokia to make some sort of Windows Phone hardware announcement at the company-run venue.
