Droid RAZR Specs Confirmed: High-Res Display, Speedy Processor

Published

on

We’re still not entirely sure what the name of the Motorola Droid RAZR is – it could be Droid RAZR, it could be Droid HD, it could be the Motorola Spyder – but what we are becoming sure of are the specifications that this device will arriving with when  it decides to officially hit Verizon’s network. The Droid RAZR showed up in its first benchmark over the weekend and that benchmark has revealed a couple of interesting tidbits presuming that the benchmark isn’t a fake.

We had heard about a display of the qHD (960×540) variety and according to this Nenamark benchmark, the Droid RAZR indeed has a qHD display. However, we still don’t know if this is a PenTile display or not with the latest rumors pegging it as straight qHD.

Also confirmed is the device’s processor which will be a OMAP4430 that is currently clocked at 1.2GHz. We could see it clocked to 1.5GHz before its all said and done though.

It’s also confirmed to be headed to Verizon but we’re pretty sure you could have figured that out already. It also has Android 2.3.5 on board.

Droid RAZR

So, now that we have two pieces to the puzzle seemingly confirmed, we await word on the rest.

We’ve heard it might have 4G LTE support and that it isn’t a world phone like the Droid Bionic but those are still far from the murky waters that this phone currently resides in. And while we still have no idea when it might launch, our gut tells us before the holidays, we do know one thing for sure.

It’s going to have some serious competition in the Samsung Nexus Prime and HTC Vigor when it finally does decide to show its face.

If I had to guess, I’d say November.

Thank you. Tough call now. I was waiting for the Bionic but lost interest, then the Vigor but my wife’s Thunderbolt has lots of issues. Now I’m torn between the Samsung Droid Prime and the Motorola Droid Razr.

The Motorola Bionic is NOT a world phone. Get your facts right before you post an article.

Actually, according to FCC documents, the Bionic does have a GSM radio,
it has just been disabled. Its quite possible that it could be enabled
with a software upgrade and you would just need a SIM card to make it a world phone

Not liking this, hopefully the RAZR name mentioned becomes just a rumor. To clarify the RAZR involves razor sharp thin profile, required aluminum casing, mandatory clamshell design with hardware input. When I heard and expected a RAZR comeback with Android I immediately became excited but these features must be enforced. There is nothing more ridiculous than combining the DROID series which was intended for android and a digital capacitive touch screen display no less than the equivalent 3.7″ screen with the RAZR. Both terms in one phone is stupid and must be separate from each other and should have plenty of resources to expect success with this model since Google has bought them out. I expect a sexy ~1Ghz, qwerty or T9 hybrid input with a small 2.5″-3″ touch screen with all the specs used in today’s phones, not to mention penta-band support and you can guarantee some sale success.

Of course the Droid Razr, it has the superior processor, it’s very solidly built, and will most likely have better battery life as HTC isn’t known for having impressive battery life. Plus, the Vigor uses an outdated A8 processor, so even the Bionic has a faster processor.
