In a press release, Apple has confirmed that former CEO Steve Jobs passed away today at the age of 56. The news comes just a little over a month after Jobs announced that he would step down from the company as CEO with Apple COO Tim Cook taking the reigns of CEO. Jobs remained on the Cupertino-based company’s Board of Directors as Chairman.

Yesterday marked Tim Cook’s first major pubic appearance as Chief Executive Officer as he took the stage to announce Apple’s iPhone 4S.

Here is Apple’s official statement:

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

Steve Jobs is known for leaving his mark on the mobile industry through the introduction of the iPhone and the iPad.

    What a loss.

There are those that dislike how Apple has done things, but for a company to rise to the level that Apple has done…well…that was soemthing no one expected.  A big reason for this rise to success is due to Steve Jobs.  Jobs has a place in history in how his innovative vision changed millions…billions of lives.  Rest in Peace.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

    Here’s to the Crazy One.

The misfit. The rebel. The troublemaker. The round peg in the square hole.

The One Who Saw Things Differently.

He wasn’t fond of rules. And he had no respect for the status quo.

You can quote him, disagree with him, glorify or vilify him. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore him. Because he changed things.

He pushed the human race forward. And while some may have seen him as the crazy one, we saw genius.

Because the man who was crazy enough to think he could change the world, was the one who did.

Steve Jobs is in my age group and I lived in the Bay Area and more or less grew up with Apple.  I even interviewed at Apple once but they took too long in getting back to me and I already had a job with another computer company.

What an amazing man Steve Jobs was and how much of an affect he has had on most of our lives.  He has shown us new ways to communicate.  He has shown us how creativity and innovation have paid off.  It is kind of an empty feeling knowing that the man who started it all will no longer be a part of Apple.  It makes one wonder how many more innovations he has thought up that have yet to materialize at Apple.  Will we get to marvel at any more of Steve Job’s creations?  I wonder if he even saw the announcement yesterday or maybe knew of the announcement and what his thoughts were about it.  Seeing someone else up on stage as the keynote speaker just doesn’t seem right.

He did more of computers than anyone else.   He pushed his ideas hard, and came up with the first Mac.   Revolutionary.  Microsoft always has played follow Apple.   I have never owned an Apple anything, but that’s just because of the price.  I wait and buy a cheap look a like.

But I have always Admired Steve Jobs.   Still hard to believe, 56 is very young.
