Samsung Galaxy Nexus Appears in Gorgeous New Image

Published

on

We’ve been waiting and waiting for a clear look at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Nexus and today, we finally have what we’ve been looking for. Before today, the Galaxy Nexus had appeared twice. The first time, in a render taken from the official teaser video that showed off the device from its side. And then, shorty afterward, it appeared in a hands-on video for the first time. Still, neither gave us a crisp look at one of the most anticipated device’s of the year.

Today though, Droid-Life has shared a gorgeous looking render of the Galaxy Nexus that was created using the teaser video and the original video leak of the device. This is the best look we’ve had the device and I think, even if this isn’t dead on, will be pretty close to what we see announced in the days ahead.

And I think most of you are probably going to like what you see here.

Galaxy Nexus

As for the announcement, we’re still unsure when Google and Samsung are going to make this thing official, the original event was postponed out of respect for Steve Jobs, but let’s hope that it’s soon.

What do you guys think?

Is this your next device?

    I’m on Verizon.

I’m up for a new phone (actually got my last one – Droid Pro –  off contract).

    And … I’m very tempted.

The curviness of the phone is turning me off.

I think the curve is something you either love or hate – but get used to it … EVERY device maker is trying to do this.  Right now it is horrendously expensive and inefficient.

Inefficient? WTF drugs are you on?  Flexible screens were demonstrated last year by Samsung, who also makes Sony’s screens for them. These new screens are made out of molecularly engineered polyimide plastic (similar to Bullet Proof Plastic) by Samsung themselves w/ the most advanced screen technology on the planet. But the OLED screen itself is actually a single molecular Graphene layer with the OLED circuits printed microscopically on to the Polyimide base. It’s actually cheaper to produce once you have the technology and equipment in place to do it.

Samsung has been rolling these new screens off in their newest and largest screen fabrication line on the planet getting ready for these new phones. But they have been already using them in Super AMOLED Plus screens. OLED’s make their own light, therefore they are highly efficient. Expect Samsung to only let these new screens out to select partners. Therefore don’t ever expect CrApple to get their hands on these…… everzzzz! …..and no other screen maker has the R&D funding and expertise to produce these screens. With Samsung having the only productive rare earth mining production right here in good ole PA, USA!

But the curved OLED screen is only half of the story on Galaxy Prime. No other foundry is yet fully ramped up producing ARM on smaller than 40nm. TSMC is trying, but they use Intel’s inferior 28nm/32nm problem plagued Gate Last process technology and Intel no longer has an ARM license (so no help for TSMC). Intel would rather push their Atom chips instead of course. Samsung, ARM and IBM fully co-operated on Exynos to put together a chip designed around all ARM components, requiring no cross platform Virtualization. Like what would be required if they used PowerVR based GPU’s and other 3rd party logic, bus (bandwidth controllers), etc. The bandwidth on Exynos is monster compared to any competitor. Because it too was designed by ARM as a cohesive all in one unit similar to AMD’s APU’s but far more efficient w/ everything on board, including 30nm memory PoP (package on package w/ full ARM Optimization package). ARM’s chips are full SoC chips by comparison, rather than just x86 GPU/CPU that are about to finally hit the wall w/ larger CISC instruction sets anyway!

While Exynos was just getting warmed up w/ first all ARM version at 45nm. Now it’s been coming off line on advanced 28nm/32nm process since March. Samsung has it’s production fully ramped up and is the first ARM foundry to do so!

“Love or hate the curve”? WTF? lol…. dude the only people that will hate it are it’s competitors. This is more revolutionary than old convex tube screens going to fake flat screens. It makes for better visibility than on flat or convex screens minus GLARE. Using the opposite technology used back in the day to overcome only some of the glare from convex to flat. It’s far more comfortable and this phone now looks like a Pininfarina designed sports car instead of the Utilitarian Design of CrApple’s breakable glass and surgical steel sharp edges. I don’t know about YOU, but I like my cars with curves like my girlfriends and I personally don’t know anyone who wouldn’t like a curved phone that better fit their face!!!! ;-P

Not a fan of the boomerang design. Don’t know why which sucks. I wanted this phone. Down to this or the Droid Razr

It’s amazing for calls, and virtually unnoticeable when looking at the screen. Nexus S was the same way!

Looks okay.  Pretty plain and straightforward.  I found that until I actually see it live and I can hold it in my hand, renderings and pics on the Internet really don’t hold much weight.  In the case of a Nexus phone, I’m really wondering how it will feel since it is a curved phone.

I’m buying this thing the instant it hits pre-order!

Bring it!  I’m ready, I think it is quite beautiful, a BIG departure from the standard rectangular slab (i.e., the iphone).

The more I look, the more I like. Especially vs the Droid RAZR it wins in the looks department for me…. but at the same time the RAZR just looks more sturdy. As an OG owner I am used to the solid frame and gorilla glass. I have dropped my phone countless times and I wonder if this Samsung will compare. The materials from the side just seem…. cheap :(

I have a feeling it won’t be THAT curvy, since I feel it becomes easier to snap say if you sit on it funny. Whereas a regular non curved phone would distribute the pressure better.

Or maybe it will. Looks bossy either way though :D

After all, this is just a render based off a leaked video and a subtle graphic.

They killed tit with the curve. Looks ugly as s*** and its gonna be uncomfortable in the pocket.

      10/15/2011 at 10:03 pm

I think it looks pretty gorgeous… of course that’s just my opinion, so whatev. As for the pocket, I’m not quite sure about how it’ll feel. The Nexus S had a curve to it also, and I never saw any complaints!

Unless you know, you’re like a normal human and have a natural curve to your leg.

4.65″ yeah it’ll be uncomfortable in the pocket, you’ll need a belt case or huge pockets (no skinny jeans emos ) its a mini tab. What Guy puts his phone in his back pocket? I have the OG as well, and dropped it literally over a hundred times, usually like two feet from my lap when standing up. Dohh. Thing is a brick, you can stand on it. The nexus will need a serious case for protection.

You sound like a small dick’d homo Apple fan. Dude it’s not the size of the phone that’s bigger. So no need to be so paranoid. It’s the the screen that’s stretched out w/o physical buttons to get in the way. Since it’s not a last gen archaic old 4:3 aspect ratio like on iFauxphone FauxG 4s, the 16:9 layout is narrower automatically. Take off your “I Bleed 6 Colors” of CrApple Glasses and join the future. You’ll be glad you did! :D

Watch it with the homo remarks. I’m a gay Droid lover and programmer. Putting “homo” in the same sentence as “apple” is unfair to the millions of gays who know what a real phone is.

As to the size of my dick, I’ll leave that up to your imagination. =)

The stereotype of the Android Fanboy is male, young, introvert (except online), tech-centric, tech-bully type … which you fit perfectly.  You give a bad name to those making reasoned decisions for either platform – because there ARE intelligent people making INFORMED decisions to buy Apple, same as Android.  Pretending otherwise means you are close minded … and small minded.

only the chicks to the phone in their back pocket and the curves on a sexy phone will make a sexy ass sexier to look at when my bio teacher and book get boring (very often)

The curve is exaggerated in this photo. Here’s a real photo of it https://stuffmideast.com/2011/10/13/119881/samsung-galaxy-nexus-prime-up-for-pre-order/
It’s nowhere near that amount of curvature in the photo above. I think they exaggerated it for marketing purposes.

Eitther way. I’m so buying this the second it’s available.

I think I’m due for a new work phone.  I have a xoom tablet and currently a droidx so the Nexus is real tempting… then again , a smaller and more pocketable Iphone 4s with siri is tempting. ( I do hate the closed itunes echo-system though.)
