RIM Says All BlackBerry Services Have Been Restored

Published

on

Suffice to say, the last couple of days have not been kind to BlackBerry owners around the world. RIM has been dealing with a major outage with as many as half of the 35 million BlackBerry users around the world affected. The company couldn’t have picked a worse time for the outage to happen, considering the iPhone 4S is launching tomorrow and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be launching soon after.

Earlier today though, RIM Co-CEO Mike Mike Lazaridis announced that BlackBerry service had been restored to its full capacity after issuing a video apology telling BlackBerry owners that the company had let them down.

The cause of the outage was apparently a huge backlog of emails coupled with a switch failure.

In addition to fixing the issue, RIM has stated that it will be working to ensure that an issue like this never happens again and that it is investigating ways to compensate BlackBerry owners for the downtime.

No word yet on what that compensation might be but we’re thinking that a brand new iPhone, Android device or Windows Phone Mango powered handset might suffice.
