Quick Photo Comparison between iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S Cameras

Published

on

One of the distinguishing factors between the new iPhone 4S and its predecessor the iPhone is the camera. Apple has upped the megapixels to 8 from 5 and also continued to do work on the optics for the camera, which was already an excellent smartphone camera in the model 4. The camera in the iPhone 4S now allows in more light, while supposedly filtering out IR light for better color and better low light photography. Here are a few quick snaps from around my house to give you an idea of the difference. I’m no great photographer and like I said these were done quickly. All shots have been reduced in size using Skitch. All photos were taken in roughly the same lighting conditions without HDR turned on.

The following photos were taken around my office with only the 4S with the first of each set not using the HDR function and the second using HDR.

I’m liking the camera improvements quite a bit on the iPhone 4S.
