I’ve Got a New Favorite Stylus: Aponyo Click Stylus

Published

on

The search for the perfect stylus to use with an iPad is a never ending one. I’ve tried many and quite a few work well and get the job done. But I’ve added a new one to the mix (actually two new ones) and they come from a company called Aponyo.

Aponyou manufacturers styli, headphones and other accessories. They have recently released three new styli onto the market. [amazon_link id=”B005OCS7JU” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Aponyo Flip[/amazon_link], [amazon_link id=”B005OC9OBU” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]the Aponyo Click[/amazon_link], and the[amazon_link id=”B005ODCF9C” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ] Aponyo Mini.[/amazon_link] All three share a common innovation in that the ever important tip is a conductive fabric unlike the rubber-like capacitive tips we’ve seen and gotten used to. In fact the tip almost looks like a wire mesh rather than anything else. You can see the difference in the gallery below.

Regardless of looks, the Aponyo styli I’ve tried (both the Flip and the Click) lay down Digital Ink better than my past favorites. Things just feel smoother and I feel like I have more control. (Remember, I’m mostly using these for taking notes and not artwork.)

What I hope pans out as I continue to use the Aponyo Click is that this tip holds up under continuous usage. I’ve discovered that most of the tips on the styli I’ve been using eventually suffer some wear and tear and control disappears when that occurs. The rubber-like tips seem to lose their shape, and tips like the Pogo-Sketch tend to just flatten out with time.

The Click is my favorite of the two implements I’ve ordered. Basically the “click” in the name comes from the capability to click the stylus and have the tip retract like any number of pens. I’m actually thinking this will help preserve the tip longer given that the other tips tend to pick up lint and schmutz from my pocket or gadget bags. The Flip has both a capacitive tip and a regular pen if you want to “flip” it around. I did not order or try out the Aponyo Mini.

These can be had at [amazon_link id=”B005OC9OBU” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Amazon [/amazon_link] with prices between $15 and $19 depending on the model.

Check out these other styli I have tried here, here, here, and here.

May have to try this one out. I have tried taking notes on my iPad using other styli but have never been all that happy with it. I still go back to my old HP convertible for real digital note taking.

Looks like the same fabric used in the iFaraday stylii.  Excellent responsiveness and length similar to a regular pencil.  I like a bit more heft in writing instruments than the iFaraday.
Targus now sells a longer stylus (rubber tipped) which feels much better in hand than the stubby ones.

Right now, my favorite is probably my JotPro.  That said, I ordered one of the ‘flip’ models.  Still looking for that tabletpc inking feel.

Gotta say, iPad programs and stylii are moving in the right direction!

Excellent suggestion Warner. Right now I’m using both the Wacom Bamboo Pen & the Hard Candy. I’d love to see if this will work just as well, if not better.

My old favorite was the JotPro but this has definitely taken over!  It handles highlighting much better so if you want to switch between drawing / highlighting/ and writing this is the stylus of you!
