In the past, I have criticized Verizon for its marketing failures. It failed miserably with its first ads for the Motorola Droid Bionic and its 4G LTE network. And while it has since released some stellar ads for both of them, it appears HTC wasn’t about to take the risk of letting them market the HTC Rezound, at least not yet.
The manufacturer today released a new promo video for its recently announced 4G LTE smartphone and it’s a good one.
One big problem I have with mobile ads, Nokia’s first ad for its Windows Phone is another good example of this, is that they don’t focus on the benefits of the phone. You know, why should someone buy this over a device like the iPhone? Some of the ads even fail to show the phone. This is far from clever.
What HTC has done here is a great example of how to combine eye candy with the product. This is how to advertise a smartphone.
We very clearly see that this phone a 4G LTE phone on Verizon, that it includes Beats Audio, and that it will come with a pair of headphones. The musical arrangement is also fantastic. It fits the ad.
And while I don’t think the HTC Rezound can hold its own against the Galaxy Nexus and Droid RAZRI think a few more people that might not have been intrigued by this phone will now consider buying it, just because this ad.
Well done, HTC.
Hopefully the folks at Verizon are taking notes.
