Droid RAZR Cuts the Crap, Makes Explosive Entrance in New Ad

Published

on

I wasn’t in love with the original Motorola Droid RAZR teaser video titled ‘Slice.’ and I was worried that Motorola and Verizon were again going to miss the mark in their latest Droid advertising campaign. I was wrong. Their latest Droid RAZR ad called ‘Payload’ is a fantastic commercial and one that brings me back to the good old days of Droid advertisements.

You know, the thrilling ones that the companies released for the original Droid and the Droid X that were compelling, exciting and best of all, sold what the phone that they were supposed to be selling.

The futuristic, robotic mayhem of the Droid Bionic ads where a departure from this and they failed. This Droid RAZR ad does things right. We have over-the-top excitement, we have explosions, and then, at the very end, after all of the build up, we get a stunning look at the device.

This, take note, is how to market a phone without flashing specifications across the screen or comparing it to other devices.

This is a fantastic commercial.

A golf clap in your direction, Verizon.

The Droid RAZR comes out tomorrow, November 11th, at 11:11am, and before you go and pick one up, be sure to check out our first impressions of a device that may just be the best phone that Motorola has ever made.

    “This is a fantastic commercial.”

***IF*** you are a male, 18-34, tech-centric, action movie fan.  All others need not apply.

Seriously – I think that ALL of the Droid ads are crap.  And I have been using Moto Droid phones since 2009 …

I agree with you.  Personally, I don’t see where this commerical is all that much better than the Bionic commericals outside of maybe the first Bionic commercial.  All Droid ads are crap.  I’m just sayin…

For the love of God, please stop with the marketing analysis. Do you really think that we geeks are the target audience? Unless you have a PhD in media studies or an MBA in marketing, just stay focused on the phone itself.
