The Annual Push Against “Wrap Rage” Is On Again

Published

on

Every year about this time we see lots of news stories about retailers who are making an effort to combat customers’ “Wrap Rage.” Any geek worth his or her salt, and any consumer knows what this is about. Bubble plastic that is impossible to open without shedding some blood is the best example.

Amazon made some noise about this previously and now it looks like WalMart wants to get on that bandwagon. According to a Bloomberg Report both companies are encouraging suppliers to eliminate unnecessary packaging.

In addition to the wounds and scars that come from opening packages encased in plastic there is obviously an environmental concern here as well.

I continue to maintain that this problem would easily go away if the CEO of a company that packages its product this way was forced, in public, to open up a product packaged this way.
