Amazon’s Audible to Bring Audio Books to Windows Phone in 3 Months?

Published

on

Audible, Amazon’s audio book distributor, will be releasing an app for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform in approximately 3 months. The initiative is reportedly being pushed by Microsoft, maker of the Windows Phone 7 platform.

Though Microsoft’s mobile OS still lacks the depth and variety of apps found on rival iOS and Android platforms, Windows Phone 7 does have many big and popular title. Microsoft was among the first to nab Netflix on-board, beating out Android by offering access to the popular video subscription streaming service on its phones at launch, along with Amazon’s Kindle app. Adding a premium audio book app with content will definitely give Microsoft additional content to its platform.

While Microsoft will still need to work hard on attracting independent developers to its platform, having a lot of the big content partners, like Kindle, Audible, Netflix, Spotify, and others, will help it attract more users, which may in turn spur developer interest.

This is one application that I have really missed not having on my Windows Phone. I am glad to hear that it will be coming soon.
