Asus Padfone Release Date Pegged for Early 2012

We know tons of you out there have been waiting for Asus’ Padfone, and who wouldn’t be after watching this video, and so you’ll be delighted to know that the device has been pegged for an early 2012 release and more specifically, it will be launched at the Mobile World Congress that will be taking place in Spain in February. Of course, this isn’t an official announcement from Asus and that means that anything could happen between now and then but MWC is where your eyes should be.

In addition to the rumored release, it appears that the Padfone will be arriving with an NVIDIA-built, Tegra 3 quad-core processor when it arrives. Not a bad addition to this tablet phone hybrid.

Not bad at all.

The Padfone is also expected to launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Of course, this new 2012 launch date is a little different than the launch we expected to take place by the end of 2011 but we think that somehow, someway, those of you thinking about getting one of these will be able to hold out.

Hold out?  I’ve been waiting for this marriage for 2+ years.  Have a smart droid.  No tablet of any flavor.  Will hold out until this comes out well beta-tested, bugs obliterated and quality produced!  I applaud ASUS for having the vision and guts to go against the tide of many poo-pooing this concept.  I just hope their vision and guts match their execution and marketing.
