No Sprint 4G LTE Devices Until Second Half of 2012

According to Sprint CFO Joseph Euteneuer, Sprint will be releasing 15 4G LTE devices in 2012. Problem is, it’s going to be awhile before any of them are available to purchase as Euteneuer confirmed that the company won’t release any 4G LTE hardware until the second half of 2012.

Now, obviously, this puts Sprint at the back of the three horse race. Verizon just celebrated the one year anniversary of its 4G LTE roll out, a network that will be in 190 markets covering over 200 million Americans by December 15th.

In second place, AT&T, who currently has 4G LTE installed in 15 markets in and around the U.S.

As for Sprint, the carrier previously said that it would be launching its 4G LTE network in the middle of 2012. No specific date was given. The carrier plans to roll out 4G LTE to 15 markets in 2012 and then will get more aggressive in 2013.

Sprint

By the end of 2013, Sprint hopes to cover more than 250 million people with its next-generation network.

So, if you’ve been planning on picking up a 4G LTE device through Sprint, you have quite the wait ahead of you unfortunately.
