One Blog Claims Hands-On With Unannounced Nokia Lumia 900
The Nokia Lumia 900, though unannounced, has been generating a lot of news lately as it’s anticipated to flagship Nokia’s Windows Phone lineup and be headed to both AT&T’s and Verizon’s 4G LTE networks in 2012. One blog, Geektechblog.com, has claimed that it had gotten some hands-on time with Nokia’s unreleased phone and its report confirms much of the speculations that we’ve heard surrounding the device along with some interesting details.
As is speculated, Nokia will be giving the Lumia 900 a larger screen than today’s high-end Nokia Lumia 800, most likely to compete against the flagship HTC Titan and Samsung Focus S. The Lumia 900 will have a 4.3-inch display, that’s said to be the same as the Lumia 800 so we can most likely anticipate an AMOLED display with Nokia’s Clear Black Display (CBD) technology. Unfortunately, for pixel-purists, this display, if it uses the same screen technology, will also be PenTile-based.
Additionally, the device is said to be getting ‘a nicer camera to compliment the big screen.’ It’s unclear what improvements Nokia has made to the camera. On a pixel-basis, the Lumia 900′s camera is said to accommodate an 8-megapixel sensor, which is on paper the same resolution as the Nokia Lumia 800′s. The Lumia 800 uses a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, so it’s unclear if that same optics will be carried over. The Lumia 900′s camera will also utilize a single LED flash, which is a downgrade from the dual LED flash on the Nokia Lumia 800.
The micro SIM tray will utilize a pin mechanism to eject, similar to Apple’s implementation on the iPhone. On the Lumia 800, Nokia utilizes a slide to eject mechanism, which doesn’t require a pin on hand to remove the micro SIM card, but may be overly complicated to access to some users.
Additional specs include 16 GB and 32 GB variants of the phone, a front-facing camera coupled with a custom Nokia calling app for video chat, and either a glossy or matte finish depending on user feedback. The phone will also pack in LTE support.
