Galaxy Nexus Release Date Rumors, Early Sales and Unboxing Video

Published

on

The Galaxy Nexus release date is still up in the air, but new reports are coming in that make December the 13th a little less certain.

The good news is many retailers have the Galaxy Nexus with 4G LTE in stock, including some stores which have sold the Galaxy Nexus early, granting us an unboxing.

After missing a December 9th launch date, we told you that multiple sources were telling us December 13th was going to be the real Galaxy Nexus release on Verizon.

Sadly, a contradictory rumor has surfaced by way of The Droid Guy, who shares an internal document regarding store changes for the week, which doesn’t include display space and signage for the Galaxy Nexus. According to communications with some retailers, Verizon is still testing the Galaxy Nexus, and will have an over the air update waiting on release day, possibly with Google Wallet.

Galaxy Nexus Release Date

Given the reports of additional testing, it is good to hear that Verizon thinks the Galaxy Nexus only needs an over the air update to be ready for final release. According to multiple reports, the Galaxy Nexus release is close enough that there are actual Galaxy Nexus phones in stock at Best Buy, Verizon and other retailers.

While the Galaxy Nexus is not officially available for sale, several shoppers were able to purchase the Galaxy Nexus last week from Best Buy. The retailer has since corrected this mistake, but the employee who sold the Galaxy Nexus early is likely in a lot of trouble.

Thanks to early sales, we do have a Galaxy Nexus for Verizon unboxing video to share. While unboxing videos aren’t super interesting these days, we know you are very interested in the Galaxy Nexus with Verizon 4G LTE, so you can see the unboxing video below.

Stay tuned for more Verizon Galaxy Nexus news and videos.

Soooo sick of rumors. My old phone is broken and I’m eligible for the 2 year discount. Is there so little competition in mobile telecommunications that carriers can afford to treat customers like this?

Go ahead and get the Rezound, you have until January xx to return it.  Their new return policy (effective November 17th) allows you to return and replace for only a $35 restocking fee.

yes bro. *sic* yes. it’s murder. this phone could be everything i’ve been dreaming of. (unlockable bootloader, open source code, and quick updates for a year or so.) unfortunately the next nexus will be out before verizon gives this the go ahead.

Yes but some of us with old phones need replaciements, and want a pure google phone with ICS, cause motorola takes 3-6 monthe to update their phones after they mess the update enough to work on their phone. I know from experience using an OG droid 1.

Verizon won’t release the nexus because they support ISIS which competes with Google wallet and want to block it from phone. ISIS won’t even be tested for another year with the NFC chip.

The only security issue is Verizon’s financial security.  Let us decide how we spend our money and how we do it.

WE should all Not Buy The Nexus For A Month After Its Released. Show Verizon Who’s Boss. Us The Consumers. Postpone Buying The Nexus for Their BS!

Damnit Verizon, get with the program.  My speculation is that Verizon and google have no issues with this phone other than Google Wallet.  Verizon doesn’t want it and Google does so they are trying to come to an agreement.  I really do hope that Verizon don’t mess with this phone much.  I wish the guy who unboxed his phone would have turned it on to see how his LTE connectivity was :|

I just spoke with a verizon salesman who said “about 75% of apps in the android market won’t work on ice cream sandwich.” If true that means verizon and google really are trying to get it right and not just screwing with us. But it also means they wont release the phone until the update is perfected and that could take quite a while. Who knows.
