15 Great Galaxy Nexus Cases

Published

on

The Galaxy Nexus for Verizon has finally arrived, and with the launch come a number of great Galaxy Nexus cases. These Galaxy Nexus cases are designed to work on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, but may also fit the GSM version.

While your local Verizon store only has a few Galaxy Nexus cases, I’ve crawled the web to find the best collection of Nexus cases from top case makers. Wether you need tough protection or a fashion accessory, you should find a case that fits your needs and your Galaxy Nexus below.

Read: Galaxy Nexus Review – Editor’s Choice

Because most users will need the extended battery, we’ve searched for user reviews to find out which cases will fit the Verizon Galaxy Nexus with the extended battery. The good news is that the extended battery adds very little bulk, so most Galaxy Nexus cases will fit over it. If the status is unconfirmed, you may want to order from a place with a good return policy.

Got this for $6.45 (free shipping) on eBay and it fits perfectly. The case is really thin compares to most cases. It’s a 2 piece snap on which stays on really well and kinda hard to remove, which is good imo. Protects the front of the phone as well. And it’s a hard case, not like the gel cases that collect a lot of dust.

Do you have the GSM or LTE phone?  I purchased a case that looks exactly like that from Verizon (manf. Qmadix) for $20 and it is not a perfect fit.  Not sure if it is the same as on your eBay link, since a manf isn’t listed.  The Qmadix case might fit better if the phone was slightly more curved or a little thinner, and it is nearly impossible to remove without damaging the case, the phone, or your fingers.  Overall, not impressed for $20, but I also wasn’t impressed with the limited offerings at Verizon.  Hence the reason I’m reading this article…

Your picture for the “Diztronic Matte Black” case is actually the Matte Smoke case. The Black is much darker.

will this post be updated when information about the extended battery is made available?

exactly… i have the extended battery arriving in the next couple of days and *love* the kickstand case i bought when i checked out of verizonwireless.com to buy the device. if i can’t use the extended battery w/ the case i’ll constantly be switching between one and the other, or more likely will only use one until a kickstand case that works with the extended battery comes out.

      • Ingemar

        12/27/2011 at 8:42 am

The kickstand case does fit the extended battery sort of…it is not a totally snug fit but it works.

          12/27/2011 at 8:45 am

I tried it as well after receiving the extended battery & cover for xmas. I feel it’s risky to leave the kickstand cover on there – 1. I feel it might slip out at some point; 2. it might bend/ruin the case for the regular battery & cover.

Can anyone confirm that the OtterBox Commuter is Verizon compatible? I emailed the company a few days ago and they responded with “We don’t think so”. I don’t live near a store and ordering it would take weeks, so I just want a solid answer before I pull the trigger.

    • Adam Truelove

      12/20/2011 at 8:56 am

The Otterbox cases are compatible with both versions of the phone.  I e-mailed Otterbox to ask them that very question, and that’s what they told me.

It is, but I am disappointed by it and plan to take it back.  The screen protector is very cloudy (looks almost like it was over sprayed with clear coat paint.  It makes the screen look pixelated, and the whites have a prism effect.

It is bad enough I am taking it back.

        01/22/2012 at 2:52 pm

just picked up mine yesterday. the guy at the store offered to put the screen protector on for me and he did a beautiful job. it’s as clear as glass – literally. He used dust remover spray and a microfiber cloth as well as the smoothing card and fabric in the otterbox case. took him 5 minutes.

The Case-Mate Barely there case DOES NOT come even close to fitting the Verizon GN with the extended battery. The bottom half is completely off and does not conform to the case leaving a large gap between case and the phone. This review led me to get it and I assure you it does not fit. Who confirmed this to “yes”??? Not even close.

    • seanwcouch

      01/19/2012 at 6:26 am

I can confirm this is true as well.  This also goes for the Casemate Tough Case and not fitting.

  9. Sungkim1978

    12/21/2011 at 5:14 pm

Just to add to help others to know absolutely not to get this case for Verizon GN + Extended is that the case is concave from the outside of the case and curves inward (fitting regular battery). Nowhere on the extended battery attached is it covex to accept the concave case. I’m really upset that this review said that it accepts the extended battery. It’s like night and day difference that the case doesn’t come even the vicinity of fitting. Beware to all and please fix the review for the Case Mate Barely there that it does not fit the extended battery.

The Case-Mate Pop! case has been pulled from their site, presumably because they screwed up measurements of the cutouts.

The ones that have been sold have cutouts that are too small for the micro-USB cable, meaning you have to take the phone out of the case any time you plug in.  Not good.

have they updated their inventory? the only review stated it was not compatible with the LTE version as it says in the description.. yet at the top of the page it states it IS compatible with CDMA. I was confused about that, so are you saying it definitely works with Verizon?

The Body Glove Case fit with the extended battery pretty well. All the button opening were right on. Felt good! The only issues was it took 2 of us to pull the phone back out! They only had Purple so when I get a silver one I am going to leave it on for good.

It took serious work to get this case back off with the extended battery. Won’t put it back on with that battery again.

On Dec. 18, I received the following reply from Otterbox:
“No we do not have cases for the extended battery. Sorry.”

Check it out on youtube. There’s a video of a guy who puts his GN with extended battery in the Otterbox Commuter. It fits pretty well with just a little bit of an issue with it not being completely snug on the bottom of the phone.

MY WIFE JUST WENT OUT AND GOT ME THE OTTERBOX DEFENDER.  I DO NOT SEE AN EXTENDED BATTERY, NOR DO I SEE ANY ROOM IN THE CASE FOR AN EXTENDED BATTERY.  THE OTTERBOX WEB SITE DOES NOT SPECIFY EXTENDED BATTERY.  IT IS A GREAT CASE, BUT I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE IS NO EXTRA BATTERY.

PLEASE  SHOW ME HOW AN EXTRA BATTERY FITS INTO THIS THING OR UPDATE YOUR ARTICLE.  $60 IS BIG CHUNK OF CHANGE FOR CASE THAT IS NOT WHAT YOUR EXPECTING IT TO BE.

This article reviews whether the case fits thr Galaxy Nexus with the extended battery and alternate backplate, as the shape is slightly different and thicker than the stock version of the phone.

No one suggested that these cases came with extended batteries, which sell at retail price for $49.99

      10/16/2012 at 8:44 am

Moron…The cases Don’t COME WITH An Extra Battery. No Case Does! The Reference Of Extra Capacity Battery Refers To People Who Are Intelligent Enough To Know They Need A Larger Capacity Battery Than The One That Comes With The Phone And Bought (As A Separate Accessory) An Extended Battery And Matching Phone Back Cover (Not To Be Confused With An Additional Protective Cover). Take The Otterbox Back, Then Return Your Phone To Verizon And Tell Them You’re Too Stupid To Own A Smartphone. Idiot!

The CaseMate Galaxy Nexus Tough Case, second from the top, is horrible. the silicon casing fits fine, but doesn’t protect the phone. The hard shell is beyond difficult to put on and when you finally squeeze the phone and silicon cover in, the volume will raise or drop to silent on its own because the side buttons are being pushed. And the case makes the power button not line up so it is very difficult to push.
Like an idiot I bought this case without doing research and have to return it.
