Motorola Droid 4 Release Date Pegged for December 22nd

Published

on

We had thought that the Motorola Droid 4 would launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on December 15th. Well, as we now know, that did not happen as Verizon launched the Galaxy Nexus all by itself. However, that doesn’t mean that hope for a 2011 launch is lost. In fact, new evidence has surfaced indicating that the Droid 4 may instead make its debut on December 22nd.

Droid-Life has acquired some evidence that seems to point to the Droid 4 launching on Verizon’s 4G LTE network three days from now. December 22nd is a Thursday, and Verizon loves launching phones on Thursday’s.

Of course, nothing is set in stone which means that the 22nd still could pass without a launch.

Droid 4

We probably won’t know for sure until later in the week as Verizon has a habit of announcing device’s shortly before their launch. Case in point, the Galaxy Nexus, which it announced a mere day before the launch of the phone.

The Motorola Droid 4 is going to be the carrier’s first 4G LTE Droid with a physical slide-out keyboard. It should also feature:

  • 4″ screen – qHD
  • RAZR styling
  • 4G LTE
  • Non-removable battery
  • Android 2.3.5
  • 1080p video recording
  • Front camera
  • HDMI out
  • MotoACTV syncing

So, in other words, it’s what the Motorola Droid 3 should have been.

I knew the droid 3 was just going to be a panzy phone and I knew that waiting for the 4 would be fruitful because motorola surely would release before christmas. Turns out I was right. Feels good man.

    It’s “Thursdays”, not “Thursday’s”.
