T-Mobile Galaxy S II KO’s iPhone 4S in Latest Ad

In recent weeks, Samsung has launched a full-on advertising assault against Apple’s iPhone 4S. And now we have others joining the fray. Today, T-Mobile, the only major U.S. carrier without the iPhone, released an advertisement for its Samsung Galaxy S II, an ad that depicts the Magenta carrier’s device KOing the iPhone 4S.

And while this is not my favorite mobile advertisement of all time, it has a couple of things that I absolutely love.

First, I like how T-Mobile was able to talk up its Galaxy S without having to highlight ridiculous iPhone owner stereotypes.

Second, and most important, T-Mobile does a fantastic job of explaining the benefits of its Galaxy S II. It outlines the device’s features in terms that average people can understand and it does it in a fun way. You’d be surprised at how many companies fail to do this.

We hear about the device’s dual-core processor and how it’s clocked faster than Apple’s A5. We see it’s display which checks in at 4.52 inches. We hear about it’s 4G speeds, something that the iPhone doesn’t possess. Yet. And last but not least, T-Mobile highlights the price differences.

T-Mobile offers some of the cheapest data plans around.

And while the Galaxy S II’s ‘flawless victory’ is disputable, I think it’s pretty safe to say that this ad does a great job of selling the product, something that companies sometimes forget is the point of these advertisements.

Well done, T-Mobile.

And for your next commercial, I’d love to see round two pit the Galaxy S II versus the Galaxy Nexus.

Wouldn’t you?

I find it nerdy. Only a very small minority of people buy on CPU speed and data speed. Most buy on looks, ease of use, and features. Those are not touched in the ad.

You’re ridiculous. Android is hands down easier to use. YOU HAVE A MENU BUTTON ALWAYS. On apple i have to leave my app, and go to settings or find the cleverly disguised menu button in order to reach the options to change something. On android, i press my menu key and start messing with settings. That’s standard. That’s how it should be. Sheep where uniforms, sheep always want the same things and sheep accept what’s given to them. I am not a sheep. I will have my settings, and i will root my phone which i paid for to do so. And android will let me. If i have to risk breaking my phone or voiding my warranty to take full power of my hardware that i paid for, i am not buying that hardware. Apple wants sheep. Be a sheep, you don’t have to think and that probably works for you.
