How to Setup Owner Information on Your Galaxy Nexus Lockscreen

One of the easiest ways to get your smartphone back after losing it is to have your personal information somewhere that a good Samaritan can find it.

The old trick of entering a contact that stood out won’t work if you lock your phone, but on the Galaxy Nexus with Ice Cream Sandwich, you can place your contact information on the homescreen so that anyone who finds your phone can track you down.

How to Set Owner Info on the Galaxy Nexus

Setting up owner information is simple to do, and doesn’t require any special app.

1. Pull down your Notification window and tap on the Settings icon next to the date.

2. Scroll down and tap on Security.

3. Tap on Owner Info.

4. Check the “Show owner info on lock screen” checkbox.

Make it easy for someone to return your lost Galaxy nexus.

5. Type your name and contact info. Make sure to use an email address or an alternate phone number so the person can get in touch with you easily.

Once that is done, your information will show up on the lockscreen when you press your power button, even if the phone is locked.
