Rovio Finally Slinging Angry Birds Onto BlackBerry PlayBook

While content is still sparse and limited for the BlackBerry Playbook, running on the BlackBerry Tablet OS, users of the tablet will now be happy to know that they too can join iOS and Android in partaking in the game of Angry Birds. The tablet edition of Angry Birds is now available in BlackBerry App World on the device for a price tag of $4.99.

The move to bring a popular gaming title to a tablet that’s being marketed as enterprise-centric is interesting as Angry Birds is still not yet available for BlackBerry smartphones–even ones with touchscreens.

All three installments of the Angry Birds franchise are available for the PlayBook–the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio, and Angry Birds Seasons. Each title retails for $4.99.

In a bid to make its tablet competitive against rival offerings, RIM had announced that it would bring support for Android titles to the PlayBook in 2012. This will allow PlayBook owners to run select Android apps and games on the dual-core tablet. In the meantime, it’s great to see another native app come to the PlayBook.
