Verizon Wireless is preparing a software update for its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet made by Samsung with embedded 4G LTE wireless broadband. The update is expected to hit at any time now and will bring a number of enhancements to the lightweight slate along with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz user interface overlay on top of the tab. According to obtained update documentation by Android Police,  the update will bring a new Social Hub widget, a photo editor that’s built-in, a special news app that aggregates print and web content, Bluetooth 3.0 compatibility, DivX support, and an industry standard VPN client.

So far neither Samsung nor Verizon are giving any details on the update or a timeline of when it will land.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is one of a number of Android tablets supported on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The Tab 10.1 is joined by three other tablets made by Motorola, including the original Xoom, the Xyboard 10.1, and the Xyboard 8.9 tablets.

4G LTE on Verizon offers consistently fast download and upload speeds, but the network has been plagued by a number of recent outages leaving customers frustrated.
