Untethered iPhone 4S, iPad 2 Jailbreak Arriving As Early As Next Week
The latest iOS hardware will be joining their previous-generation counterparts with an untethered jailbreak option, which could be delivered as early as next week just when the Consumer Electronics Show is slated to start. The A5-powered iPhone 4S and iPad 2 will be joining the iPhone 4 and iPad 1 when this happens, which will allow users to jailbreak the iOS 5.0.1 software build.
The untethered jailbreak solution will be delivered by hacker pod2g, who is the same individual that delivered the untethered jailbreak for A4-powered devices. In a tweet, pod2g says that he has ‘made a step today for the A5 [devices]. With some luck we could expect a release in a week.’
At this point, users of A5-powered iPad 2 would have to resort to a tethered jailbreak solution, meaning that users would have to be near a computer to re-jailbreak everytime a device reboots or if the power runs out. An untethered jailbreak would negate the need to re-jailbreak every reboot and would offer users more convenience.
Other hackers and developers are also making news with their jailbreak solutions recently for the iPhone 4S, though no release date was given or anticipated for those jailbreak methods.
