U.S. Cellular to Launch 4G LTE Tablet in March, Smartphone in April

In the midst of all of the 4G LTE hoopla today surrounding AT&T, Sprint, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, U.S. Cellular quietly made an announcement of its own through Twitter giving customers of the regional carrier a couple of release windows for its first 4G LTE devices. According to a tweet, the carrier will be launching its first 4G LTE tablet in March and it will be shipping its first 4G LTE smartphone in April.

That’s great news for those uninterested in 4G LTE devices from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon and for those that currently called U.S. Cellular home.

There is some bad news (if you can call it that) though.

The bad news is that the carrier declined to offer up any details on what those devices are. If you recall, there have been some whispers about Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Tab 10.1 launches in the past so it’s possible that those two might be the devices that U.S. Cellular unfurls down the road.

And that rumor has been made even more credible now that Sprint is almost assuredly going to be playing host to the Galaxy Nexus.

This announcement falls in line with the timeline that U.S. Cellular previously gave, saying that its first 4G LTE devices would be arriving during the first quarter of 2012. It just so happens that March falls into that time frame.

The carrier’s 4G LTE network will be launching in the early part of this year and to see exactly where it will be available, you’ll want to head here.
