Asus Confirms 4 New Tablets
After the release of the highly anticipated and controversial Transformer Prime, Asus has confirmed that there will be at least four new tablets coming in 2012, and many, if not all, of those may be previewed come the start of this coming week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The GottaBeMobile and Notebooks.com teams will be present at the industry trade event to cover the news in full, but here’s what we do know so far.
1. Transformer Prime 3G: Yes, the Transformer Prime will be coming in a 3G variant, and good new for those who intend to use their tablets for navigation is that the slate will come with a more powerfully equipped GPS. The original Transformer Prime suffered from poor GPS reception due to the metal unibody aluminum enclosure, so hopefully Asus will tweak the design of the tablet on the 3G version to not only allow for better GPS reception, but also better mobile broadband reception. Apple utilizes a small plastic strip on its 3G-capable iPad tablets to enhance reception as a design compromise. The 3G model is slated to be coming in March.
2. A 7-inch model of the Android tablet will be coming to CES, and that model could be the Asus Eee Pad MeMo.
3. Windows tablet with ARM CPU: We’re hearing that Asus will also be releasing a Windows slate with an ARM processor. The company has in the past released Windows tablets so this isn’t surprising. Asus has also in the past confirmed that the Transformer form factor will be adopted for Windows tablet, so we can potentially see a Transformer Prime with quad-core CPU being powered by Windows.
4. A higher-resolution Android tablet: With Acer inching ahead with a 1080p HD capable display on its Iconia Tab A700 tablet, Asus is feeling the heat and the company says we should expect to see a 10-inch tablet with a higher resolution screen. Will this be a higher resolution Transformer Prime or another model is still unclear.

You wont see a windows tablet running quadcore anytime soon. Mostly because there OS just adopted dual core and that hasnt been shown off yet. Windows is just falling way behind. They should of developed there mobile OS side by side with the PC OS. With andy and apple both developing stronger eco systems that work across all platforms before windows could even get a tablet out shows microsofts days are numbered. Nokia cant even help that fact. No ones going to buy a single core windows phone when apple and andy have better specd phones on there low end models. Microsoft needs to rethink its strategy and possibly start working with andy. Now you can say windows mobile os is more versitile and easy to develop and you would be right, but that doesnt help when they only have a 6% share of the market. The Nokia deal is falling fast because they are taking to long to produce even quality phones. By the time you see 8.0 windows on mobile phones itll be to late. Android will be making quad core phones and the iphone will be right along side. On top of that google has a super secret in store for google tv and so does apple. Goodluck microsoft, but you waited to long.

Microsoft is pushing tablets running the PC operating system. Not the mobile OS. For someone calling for the death of Microsoft, you seem to be missing a key point in their strategy. Microsoft has an amazing mobile OS. Absolutely beautiful. Nokia just created one of the most beautiful phones on the planet with the Lumia 800. Microsoft made $23 billion in profit last year. They have very deep pockets. Why on Earth would you write them off like this? Plus a major part of their coming marketing campaign is going to focus on getting sales associates to actually show people WP7 phones instead of letting them collect dust in the back corner through monetary incentives. WP7’s biggest problem right now is not enough people have actually tried it.
Feel free to disagree. I just wanted to show there is another viewpoint for the present scenario.

Never write off Microsoft– microsoft office on a tablet will garner a significant amount of sales that would make their investment profitable.
