It appears that Motorola has finally released the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for owners of the Wi-Fi version of the Motorola Xoom here in the United States. This means that the tablet becomes one of the first to get Google’s latest and greatest software and it also means that if you own one of these, you should be checking to see if the update is available on your device this very moment.
The software update will take your Xoom tablet to Android 4.0.3 and it will bring a ton of modifications along with it.

Now, again, this update is for the Wi-Fi version of the Motorola Xoom. Those who are sporting the 4G LTE version of the device or the international model will have to wait a little bit longer for the upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich.
For those of you in possession of a Wi-Fi only model here in the U.S., you’ll want to head into Settings>About tablet>System updates. Once there, you should be able to pull the software and begin the installation process.
Once you’re done, you should have a whole new experience on your tablet, an experience that will likely overshadow the time spent with Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

I can’t wait to have this Motorola Xoom! This looks incredible awesome for me.
Found it on my device when I woke up this morning; limited chance to try it, appears not revolutionary but evolutionary in a number of areas.
Very, very disappointed with my Android 4 upgrade expeience on my Xoom. Freezes more now, some apps, like Print, no longer work, Flash stopped working until I manually upgraded it, browser shows bookmarks as bulky icons now instead of efficient lists, no home button in browser anymore, PIN keypad (to unlock unit) rearranged for no good reason, allnthis with no discernable improvement in performance in any area.
If I could, I would revert to 3.0. Seems google has the same problem as Microsoft: upgrade a perfectly good piece of software for no other reason than to appear as keeping up with the times (results be damned!)
Oh, my favorite part: no instructions or user guide available (that I can find) to help me understand the changes. Nice touch…..
Update: been using ICS on the Xoom for about a week now and, in some respects, it’s quite buggy. At times certain zones of the touch screen are unresponsive, and I’ve had the browser and the Android keyboard both freeze up on me several times. Many websites can be slow to render, and a previous problem related to parts of the display appearing to be unstable has returned (an issue with 3.0 that disappeared with 3.1).
Several steps forward with appearance, several back with nagging issues I thought previously resolved. Hope there’s a patch in the not-too-distant future…
This upgrade is bad with a lot problems, app stop itself or freeze frequently. I want go back but I don’t know how to do it……
