How to Completely Silence Your iPhone

Yesterday, we showed you an easy way to put a more complex passcode on your iPhone and today, we’re going to share another very simple tip that could save you some embarrassment.

Imagine you’re at the ballet, or in an important business meeting, or in a huge college classroom, places where the last thing you, or the people around you, want to hear is your iPhone ringer alerting you to a phone call, a text or your turn in a game.

Maybe you don’t even want to feel the phone vibrate.

In other words, you want to completely silence your iPhone.

Your first instinct is probably going to be to mash down on the volume rocker or to toggle the Vibrate/Ring switch. Hate to break it to you but neither of those are solutions to your problem.

Rather, there are three solutions. And lucky for you, they are extremely simple.

Solution 1:

1) Head to your iPhone’s Settings.

2) Once you’re there, tap Sounds.

3) See that little toggle on the top there? Make sure Vibrate is switched to Off. This will turn your Vibrate/Ringer switch into a Silent/Ringer switch. And just to be sure, you might also want to head down the list and make sure everything on there, from Tweets to Sent Mail to New Voicemails are set to None at the top.

You’ll also want to switch Lock Sounds and Keyboard Clicks to Off.

Those toggles on the bottom should be switched to Off.

Also, make sure you don’t have any Alarms set as those will, and this is by design, sound off even when your phone is silenced.

Hopefully, somewhere down the road, Apple allows you to silence Alarms, even when they are turned on.

Siri could handle that, right?

Solution 2:

1) Go into your Settings.

2) At the very top, toggle Airplane Mode to On. This will silence your phone, however, it will also kill off your cellular data meaning you won’t receive email messages, calls or texts.

In some cases, that’s exactly what you want to do.

Solution 3:

1) Turn off your iPhone.

This is the only real way to ensure that you won’t have any beeps or buzzes going off at inopportune times.

Simply hold down the power button up the cops love your iPhone and wait for the power slider to appear. Swipe once to the right and your iPhone will shut off.

THANK YOU so much! I cannot stand being interrupted from my work, thoughts, and friends with EVERY single beep and vibration notice. It is utterly distracting and unproductive.
Thumbs up for writing this article!

Or you can buy a Samsung because they do not deny utterly simple and necessary features. I hate Apple.
