LG Spectrum Now Available for $80 at Amazon

Published

It’s not everyday that you see a 4G LTE smartphone with the specifications that the LG Spectrum has fall to $80. And it’s especially rare to see a phone, with the specifications that the LG Spectrum has, drop to $80 mere days after it becomes available. If you haven’t guessed already, the LG Spectrum, a device that we saw announced at CES 2012 has fallen to a mere $80 on-contract at Amazon.

This is quite the discount considering the LG Spectrum launched on January 19th, last Thursday, for $199 with the signing of a new two-year contract.

Now, that $80 requires you to be a new customer. However, if you are thinking about upgrading, Amazon is also offering you a discount as well. For those fortunate enough to have an upgrade, you’ll have to shell out $129.99.

Again, not so bad.

There is a slight problem though. If you go to Amazon’s website, you’ll notice that the Spectrum is currently on backorder and won’t be shipping out for another one to two weeks.

We went hands-on with the LG Spectrum at CES and we came away mildly impressed. The specs are there – HD screen, quick processor, but the software and design qualities are not.

We’ll reserve final judgement for a full review but just know this. It’s very plastiky and it’s running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. LG has promised Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but there is no telling when it might arrive.

If you can look beyond those though, the LG Spectrum is a solid device, especially at this price.

You can find it on Amazon here.
