Galaxy Nexus Price Falls to $100 at Amazon
Amazon has apparently gone bonkers. And luckily, we’re just fine with that. Just a day after the retailer started offering up the newly released LG Spectrum, a 4G LTE smartphone on Verizon, for a mere $80, Amazon has now slashed the price of the coveted Samsung Galaxy Nexus down to a mere $100 with the signing of a new two-year contract.
Yeah, that’s a full $200 discount off of Verizon’s current asking price of $300 and it’s an absolute steal for a phone that many feel is the best Android phone ever to hit the market.
Unfortunately, the deal is only available to those of you who are willing to sign a new two-year contract. Those who are looking to upgrade need not apply. A shame considering this is the lowest price that the Verizon version of the Galaxy Nexus has seen yet.
So, if you can look past what I consider poor battery life and you don’t mind the possibility of having your handset randomly reboot, this is an offer worth taking a look at if you’re looking for a new smartphone.
Why?
This is a Nexus device which means that its easily customizable via rooting and unlocking the bootloader. It means that you’ll have a pristine, vanilla version of Android without the interference of a manufacturers user interface.
You’d be surprised at how nice that is.
And finally, you’ll have the latest and greatest version of Android, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, right out of the box.

The battery issues doesn’t bother me. I charge it when I get up in the morning and charge it again in the late afternoon early evening. In the span of 5 weeks, it has rebooted 3 times. I’m hoping that Google/Samsung/Verizon will fix that soon. Maybe with the Feb 23rd update. Other than those two issues, the phone works great. I use the hell out of it and unlimited data is always nice but don’t like the data usage warning at it just doesn’t apply to me.

Up your data usage warning to something ridiculous like 100 GB. That’s what I did.

Battery is fine for my needs. I charge it during the work day at my desk, so no issue there. I’ll admit the battery could be MUCH better and probably would be a pain for people that can’t charge it during the day. And my phone rarely reboots on it’s own. I’ve had it since launch day, and it’s rebooted on it’s own maybe 3 times.
