Google Updates Google Docs for Android for Tablet, Offline Viewing

Published

on

The Google Docs for Android app has been updated in Android Market to provide additional features to users of Google’s cloud-based office suite. The new updated app, available for free, now brings offline viewing and editing as well as better tablet support for viewing documents.

Offline users will help users with limited data plans have access to important files and documents that are stored in the cloud. To access documents for offline viewing, users will need to tap the arrow down on the right side of the file name, and then select “Make Offline.” The file will then be downloaded and saved to the device so that you can access it without needing an Internet connection.

Once you’ve viewed and edited your document in offline mode, you can go ahead and update the document and send it back to the cloud. To do this, hit the update button and revisions will be synchronized over.

On the tablet side, Google Docs will have a multi-pane view making it easy for Honeycomb users to access their documents, rather than presenting slate owners with a phone-style single-pane layout.
