We had been waiting for Verizon to perk up with another 4G LTE roll out announcement and today, the carrier has done just that. Today, Verizon announced that two new markets will be getting the carrier’s next-generation high-speed network and while two isn’t a lot, Verizon has a tendency to add more markets between the initial announcement and the actual roll out date.
So, who are those lucky two cities?
Why, Dothan and Enterprise, Alabama of course. Verizon also says that service should be available in a number of smaller markets in Alabama including Columbia, Cottonwood, Daleville, Elba, Geneva, Hartford, Headland, New Brockton, Ozark, Samson and Slocomb.
If you just so happen to find yourself living in one of those areas, you will, in just under a months time, have access to data speeds that can reach up to 10 times faster then the speeds you find on a normal 3G network.
Wondering just how fast that is? Here, have a look at this video below where a Motorola Droid Bionic, a 4G LTE Android phone on Verizon absolutely scorches the AT&T iPhone 4S in a speed test:
The difference is pretty incredible.
If you’re somebody that surfs or streams media while on-the-go, you are going to want to take a look at the 4G LTE devices that Verizon has to offer, lest you end up with a crying baby who can’t watch the show he wants to watch because he’s on plain old 3G:
At the moment, those three are the cream of the crop when it comes to 4G LTE smartphones and they should be for the next couple of months.
Again, we expect Verizon to add more markets between now and March 15th so be sure to check back in with us.
