Must Have App for late Night iPhone and iPad Users

If you use your iPad or iPhone in bed you need to download f.lux.

f.lux is a free application that automatically adjusts the color of your iPhone or iPad’s display to look more like the light around you. During the day the display looks like the sun, just like it normally does, and at night it looks like your home lighting. In the morning it’s automatically back to the sun.

Why does this matter?

Simple. f.lux warms the colors on your iPhone so you don’t get eye strain from the same harsh light that blows your eyes out n a standard iPhone. The colors gradually get warmer as the evening progresses.

The iPhone display is bright bright and looks awesome, but when you are using your iPad or iPhone right before bed, it can mess with your ability to get a good night’s sleep.

The adjustment may take some getting used to, and the screen may look odd for the first day or two you use it, but I am already noticing the difference in use at night. Anecdotally I’m sleeping better, but I’m also tracking my sleep with Lark, so I will collect data on my sleep with f.lux.

The biggest downside to f.lux for the iPhone and iPad is that you have to jailbreak your device to use f.lux. Until I discovered f.lux I was tempted to unjailbreak my iPhone 4S, but now I’m even thinking of jailbreaking my iPad 2.

The good news is you can jailbreak all the current iPhone and iPad devices. The links below will walk you through jailbreaking your iPhone and iPad

Before you jailbreak, check out these reasons you might not want to jailbreak the iPhone.

  1. It’s really hard to exaggerate how nice this is for your eyes. I recently discovered it and can’t imagine going back though it means sustaining a jailbreak on iPhone and iPad. Unfortunately, though it exists on windows I couldn’t find it or anything comparable in function on Android.

  2. Talk about not being able to go back
    I messed up
I upgraded and for what? Nothin
Not a dam thing worth it w/o f.lux
