Samsung Galaxy S II Now Available for U.S. Cellular

Published

on

Those who live in areas covered by regional carrier U.S. Cellular will be happy to know that it just added one of the best Android phones ever made to its arsenal. The carrier has launched the Samsung Galaxy S II and it’s available today online. Customers looking to get it in stores will have to wait until tomorrow as the retail outlets won’t be able to sell the device until March 1st.

The price is a familiar one, $229.99 with the signing of a new two-year contract. That’s the same price that T-Mobile attached to its version of the Galaxy S II.

Unfortunately, that price is going to come after a $100 mail-in rebate which means you’re going to have to pony up quite a bit of money for this device up front. $329.99 to be exact.

Samsung Galaxy S II Now Available for U.S. Cellular

The U.S. Cellular version of the Samsung Galaxy S II will be the standard Samsung version. That means that it packs a Exnyos 1.2GHz dual-core processor, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and 16GB of built-in storage. It also has a 4.5-inch screen,

It also has Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board, not Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and it also has Swype built-in as a default keyboard.

U.S. Cellular’s Galaxy S II won’t run on the carrier’s 4G LTE network which currently has a mere two devices available including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator.

Those interested in the new device, and there should be more than a few as this is a quality smartphone, should head on over to U.S. Cellular’s website to take a look.

actually…. US Cellular has some promotions covering handset trade ins ($150) and online Android activations ($100), so if you’re smart, you could get this device for close to nothing.

just to make this very clear.  $100 promo is only if you are coming from another carrier
the $150 trade is does NOT, let me repeat, does NOT cover any of their current phones.
the samsung mesmerize, which i baby and is in absolute prestine condition they only were going to give me $30 for it.
Most of the other trade in’s were only about $50~$75

PLUS – they are charging more for the SG II and the Aviator than any other carrier has ever charged.
they want to force us to do a $100 rebate?! holy friggin crap,.,, just make the damn phone $199 like every other carrier did.

i am not sure what phones they are giving $150 for, but if it IS one of their phones, i can guarantee you would have had to of purchased it within the last 30 days, otherwise they wont give you jack for it.

and on the subject of the SG II – US Cellular has just made the most retarded move i have seen a carrier do with cell phones.
they take one of the most popular phones out right now, which DOES come with 4G, and they strip the 4G chip out of it.
Then to top it off, they take the hugely crappy Samsung Aviator, which was the Droid Charge on Verizon and make it their 1st LTE phone.
    completely retarded 100% retarded.
the charge was plagued with reception issues on Verizon and i highly doubt US Cellular fixed anything, though they may have.

but if you sit the Aviator, and the 2 year old Galaxy S Mesmerize (it IS a 2yr old phone, only us cellular had it for 1 yr) and look at the specs and performance, they are nearly identical.

so not only did they bring out a crappy phone for LTE, but they brought out a phone that is a yr old, PLUS, bring out a phone that is nearly identical to an even older phone, which was onyl popular because that was the only decent android phone USCC had to offer.

    WHY, dear lord why!

There is no Galaxy S II LTE variant. AT&T is not LTE.
