Top Android Apps Drop to $0.49 For Google Play Launch

To celebrate the launch of Google Play, the united app, movies, music, and book store from Google, several Android apps have been put on sale.

Google has put a total of 25 apps on sale for just $0.49 in its “Play Our Favorites” sale.

Despite the name, the sale isn’t entirely about games. A lot of the apps that are on sale are games, but the sale also includes cooking apps, music apps, camera apps, a keyboard replacement, and others.

Most of these apps have been on sale before, or are apps that you might already have. But if you don’t have them, now’s your chance to pick up a few of them.

Here’s a list of all the apps that are on sale:

  • World of Goo
  • Jaime’s 20 Minute Meals
  • SHADOWGUN
  • Osmos HD
  • TuneIn Radio Pro
  • I Just Forgot – Little Critter
  • Sprinkle
  • Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
  • Asphalt 6: Adrenaline
  • Dead Space
  • Business Calendar
  • SoundHound
  • mSecure – Password Manage
  • NFL Flick Quarterback
  • N.O.V.A. 2
  • Quell Reflect
  • Endomondo Sports Tracker PRO
  • Flick Golf Extreme
  • The Need To Be Fed
  • Paper Camera
  • ZOOKEEPER DX TouchEdition
  • SwiftKey X Keyboard
  • Camera Zoom FX
  • It’s Tyrannosaurus Rex!
  • Pocket League Story

Of the apps available the are a few standouts. Most notable are Dead Space, SwiftKey X, World of Goo, and TuneIn Radio.

Dead Space is the mobile version of the great console game of the same name. You are a space miner investigating a space station infected with some strange mutants. Dead Space is a horror game, just to warn you. It is one of the best action games available on Android, and well worth 50 cents.

World of Goo is another great Android game. It’s a puzzle game where you try to build towers and bridges out of goo balls to solve each puzzle. Some puzzles can be difficult, but most aren’t hard enough to make you want to throw your phone across the room.

SwiftKey X is largely regarded as one of the best alternative keyboards for Android. If you dislike the keyboard that shipped on your phone and Swype doesn’t fit well for you, SwiftKey X would be a worthwhile investment. And for half a buck there’s not much risk involved.

TuneIn Radio Pro does just what you’d expect it to do: let you listen to radio stations on your phone. If you love listening to radio for whatever reason you owe it to yourself to pay the 50 cents for this app. If nothing else it’ll give you free sports radio for the upcoming MLB season so you don’t have to pay for the MLB’s subscriptions.
