HTC had detailed additional information for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software update for a number of its phone on its blog. The company announced that its in the early stages still for deploying Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the HTC Sensation and the Sensation XE and that the Ice Cream Sandwich update will be more widely available to users in the coming weeks. After that, HTC hopes to roll out the upgrade to the HTC Sensation 4G–which is also available on U.S. carrier T-Mobile–and the Sensation XL.

As to other Android smartphones on HTC’s portfolios, according to the Android phone-maker, the following 16 devices will be blessed with the software upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich:

  • DROID Incredible 2 by HTC
  • HTC Amaze 4G
  • HTC Desire S
  • HTC Desire HD
  • HTC EVO 3D
  • HTC EVO Design 4G
  • HTC Incredible S
  • HTC Sensation
  • HTC Sensation XL
  • HTC Sensation 4G
  • HTC Sensation XE
  • HTC Raider
  • HTC Rezound
  • HTC Rhyme
  • HTC Thunderbolt
  • HTC Vivid

HTC advises customers that specific details are currently not available for when the upgrades are rolling out. It says that it is working ‘closely’ with carrier partners to ‘nail down update schedules’ for phones. As usual carrier-branded phones will have to wait for the upgrades to be deployed to them as the updates must be tested to ensure that they work properly on the network before being deployed to customers. Devices like the Rezound and Thunderbolt, for example, must get Verizon’s blessing before they can be pushed out over the air to customers.

In addition to these devices being upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich, HTC also announced new devices under its One series at Mobile World Congress late last month that will ship with Android 4.0 out of the box along with the new HTC Sense 4.0 user interface.

It was my understanding that the sensation 4g would get the update by the end of March? True or not?
