Galaxy S II Android 4.0 Update Continues to Roll Out

Published

on

Another day, another Samsung Galaxy S II updated with all of the goodness that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has to offer. This time though, it’s a carrier-specific device that has received the update with Three UK announcing that the update is now available for its device through Samsung’s Kies software. It doesn’t appear to be rolling out Over-The-Air (OTA) unfortunately.

Those with the device will want to connect the Galaxy S II to a PC and install the Kies software. Once that’s taken care of, you’ll just have to wait for Kies to work its magic.

After it’s all done, you’ll be updated to Google’s latest piece of software which brings a number of improvements and features along with it.

You can read more about those in our Guide to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

As of right now, the update has rolled out to several different forms of the Galaxy S II around the globe, but we still don’t have any time table for the Galaxy S II models here in the United States.

In fact, the only model we’ve heard about is the one on Sprint, the Epic 4G Touch.

Sprint has apparently been testing out the update for the device and we thought a release might have been imminent. But that was weeks ago and we haven’t heard anything at all.

We haven’t yet heard anything substantial about the updates for the AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon models so it’s anyone’s guess as to when the software will be rolling out.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed though.
