Verizon Galaxy Nexus Bug Fix Update Rolling Out in April?

Published

on

I have been harsh about the issues plaguing Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus but it looks like the carrier is working on a fix that might take care of at least one of them. According to insider @black_man_x, Verizon is currently working on a bug fix update that should be rolling out for the device at some point during the month of April. And from the sound of things, the update should help to improve one of the best Android devices available.

The fix is said to include fixes for the device’s battery life – something that has bothered me since I bought the phone back in December – as well as remedies for the audio reboot issues and data falling asleep.

This is a huge update for the device and it has been a long time coming as the device has been out since December.

Of course, April is still a little ways off and who knows if and when Verizon will be push it out so it could be more than a month before we see the new software rolling out.

The update is said to be Android 4.0.5 Ice Cream Sandwich.

As of now, those are the only things that are rumored to be coming with the update but we’ll assume that there will be plenty more on board when it arrives for device owners.

Let’s hope that Verizon can push this update out sooner rather than later and maybe, just maybe, it’ll convince me to ditch my iPhone 3GS and go back to the Galaxy Nexus as my main device.

About time.  A lot of us are still dealing with the problem where the Nexus stops transmitting audio.  Kind of sad that the new Android flagship smartphone can’t be used as a phone.

    Sounds great!

Too bad we’re still waiting for anything higher than 4.0.1 in Canada

I’ve also migrated to the iPhone while waiting for a fix. Longer battery life and the ability to make it through an entire conversation without hearing “hello? hello?…” on the other end have been pretty amazing. I was also pleased to find I could use Google Sync (via setting up my gmail accounts as exchange accounts) to seamlessly sync all my email, contacts, and calendars. That was one of my biggest fears moving to an iPhone…

BUT, I really miss the speech to text, gmail and google apps integration with ICS, my google music account (no native app on iPhone yet), and Google Navigation (LOVE Google Navigation!)

Time will tell if I make the switch back…

Remember, Verizon hasn’t uttered a word about the existence of an update. Far as I’m concerned, it’s all just rumor.  I’m posting this on April 10th, 1/3 the way through the month, and I’m still using a buggy 4.0.2 phone. So much for “early April”, eh? ;)

Instead of rebooting , just turn it to airplane mode and then back. I also have this issue, rhjs phone is barely usable and completely undependable

My verizon galaxy nexus randomly reboots & has done so in the middle of important calls & also has all of the other bugs I’ve seen outside of the data sleeping but that will probably happen as well in time for this to be a flagship phone i’m highly disappointed & am even having thoughts of changing phone companies & I have only been with verizon for two months this is sad to say the least

Verizon and Google can go suck it!  The Galaxy Nexus has been a horrible phone.  WTF-Flagship phone my ass, it is a piece of ass!  The only reason I purchased this phone was because it is a nexus phone, google supported and quick updates.  What a joke!  My phone cant’ make it on 2 hours charge and that is idle.  Last android phone I will purchase!
