Nokia Lumia 900 Tops AT&T Charts on Amazon

After hearing several reports that AT&T may have depleted its inventory for pre-orders of the flagship Nokia Lumia 900 4G LTE Windows Phone smartphone, we’re also hearing that the phone, which is slated to launch to consumers on April 8th, has topped the charts at Amazon. The online retailer is now also listing the Lumia 900 on backorder at this time as well.

According to Amazon’s records, the Lumia 900 now holds the top two positions for phones sold for AT&T. The black model of the Lumia 900 holds the top spot and the cyan model holds the number two spot. Given that Amazon does not sell the competing Apple iPhone models, it’s unclear how sales of the Lumia 900 fare against Apple’s flagship iOS devices. However, given that the Lumia has bested competing phones running the BlackBerry operating system from Research in Motion and those devices running Google’s Android OS, Nokia’s debut on AT&T is showing a lot of promise on AT&T.

Despite a number of high-end features, Nokia is aggressively pricing the Lumia 900. Amazon has been offering the phone to new AT&T customers for just $0.01 on a two-year contract. Those adding a new family line will have to pay $140 and those extending and renewing their two-year commitment to AT&T through Amazon could snag the phone for $120. AT&T is offering the Lumia 900 for $99 on a two-year contract and the phone could be obtained for free for new customers.

AT&T is also investing in a huge launch campaign for the Lumia 900 with Nokia and Microsoft. The carrier, which has traditionally been known to be a strong supporter of the Microsoft platform, is said to be investing in a launch campaign that will be the biggest ever for AT&T.

The Lumia 900 comes with a 4.3-inch Nokia ClearBlack Display AMOLED screen, the same overall aesthetics that is found on the Lumia 800 and the Nokia N9 MeeGo phone, 16 GB on-board storage and a non-user replaceable battery, 4G LTE connectivity with enhanced HSPA+ backhaul support, 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss optics rear-facing camera with a wide-angle lens and large aperture, and a wide-angle front-facing Carl Zeiss camera. The phone will initially launch in a matte black and cyan polycarbonate shell and Nokia will follow shortly with a white model. Unlike the launch of the T-Mobile USA Lumia 710, AT&T will also stock a number of Nokia-branded accessories at launch.

The phone was originally announced early this year at the Consumer Electronics Show and has since won a number of awards for its strong industrial design.

Preordered my today from AT&T and they said that I should have it by the 9th, maybe even a couple days earlier.  Wishful thinking maybe?  I hope not – can’t wait!!!!
