Droid RAZR Android 4.0 Update Coming Soon

Published

on

It appears that the Motorola Droid RAZR Android 4.0 update should be rolling out in the near future as Motorola has told its Motorola Feedback Network that a soak test for the software should begin soon.

Droid-Life is reporting that the company has told members of the MFN, who test updates for the company, that the software should be out for testing shortly, possibly as soon as tomorrow.

This comes after the company scrapped another update, a bug fixer, in lieu of rolling out Android 4.0.

So, assuming the testing goes well, we should see Verizon roll the update out in the next few days or, at the very worst, the next couple of weeks.

The update was previously thought to have been arriving last week alongside the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, but the supposed April 8th roll out date came and went without any sign of the software.

The HTC Rezound’s rumored April 6th Android 4.0 upgrade date also came and went without any users seeing Google’s latest piece of mobile software.

While it’s a shame that HTC, Motorola and Verizon weren’t able to get Android 4.0 out on those rumored dates, it’s nice to know that the wheels are still turning, even if we don’t know exactly when the roll out will be taking place.

The Droid RAZR has been available on Verizon’s 4G LTE network since October of 2011 and since then, owners have been waiting for Verizon to release the elusive upgrade to Android 4.0, something that was promised to them quite awhile ago.

Six months later, it looks like the companies involved will finally deliver on that promise.

The Motorola Droid Razr was released on 11/11/11 at 11:11 a.m.. And, for $111.11 it (w/ a new contract) could be gotten on Amazon until 12 midnight. Ice Cream Sandwich came to my Motorola Xoom a couple of weeks ago so, at least you know Motorola is definitely going in that direction. My favorite part of the update is the ability to take screen shots w/o rooting or jailbreaking.
Sidebar: I didn’t get the Razr at release even though I went to Verizon to check it out (I was impressed) because I was waiting on the Google Nexus at that time. I changed my mind on Black Friday weekend when Amazon dropped them to “a penny a pop” for new sign ups. I got two, one for the wife too.
Xtra PS. We love the phones but both of us have had freeze ups. (Better labeled over-heats) that incapacitated our phones for hours until I could find an answer online how to fix it [ nightmarish ] and Verizon IS the most expensive network in the US.
