HTC Sensation 4G Android 4.0 Update Not Coming in April

At the end of March, it became apparent that the HTC Sensation 4G Android 4.0 update had been delayed. And now, T-Mobile is saying that the update, which originally rumored to be coming out in March, will not be coming out in April.

The information comes from a T-Mobile support post, courtesy of TMoNews, and it sheds a little light on the Sensation 4G Android update that HTC and T-Mobile promised to owners.

In the post, the T-Mobile rep states very clearly that the Sensation 4G update will not be arriving this month and that he doesn’t know when the software update will roll out.

HTC Sensation 4G Android 4.0 Update Not Coming in April

Obviously, this is both good and bad news for Sensation 4G owners.

Good, because at least now owners can temper expectations and bad, because there is still no concrete roll out date for the Android 4.0 update.

Many Sensation 4G owners have thought that T-Mobile is holding the software to increase sales on its upcoming Android 4.0 smartphone, the HTC One S.

Not true says this rep who claims that the carrier would have released the software already if it was ready.

So, this leads us to believe that there are still issues within the software that the carrier is trying to iron out.

This is a good thing. Owners of the Sensation 4G would much rather see a relatively bug-free update then stumble into a piece of software riddled with issues.

T-Mobile is smart to be taking its time and we’d be surprised to see the update get delayed beyond the month of May.

This phone is worth rooting. The dev community is pretty solid, and I’ve tried a few ROM variations. The one I’ve been following most often is ARHD. With that ROM, I’ve been running an optimized version of ICS and Sense 3.6 for a few months now. On top of that, the kernel supports running the CPU at the proper speed, and not underclocked at 1.2 Ghz like the stock ROM. This phone has amazing potential, it’s just too bad that T-Mobile’s ROM doesn’t reflect that.
