Amazon Hosting Big Sprint Smartphone Sale

Published

on

Last month, Amazon played host to a fire sale on 4G WiMax phones for Sprint in an effort to clear out devices before the carrier launched its 4G LTE network. Well, the retailer is at it again as it is again offering many of Sprint’s current devices for a mere penny on-contract.

Granted, now might not be the best time to pick up a 4G WiMax device with Sprint poised to roll out its first 4G LTE devices this Sunday, but for some, the offer might be too tempting to pass up.

Especially when you consider a few of the devices that Amazon has available.

While all of Sprint’s phones are available for a penny, there are three that customers should really be looking at. Those include the Nexus S 4G, which just got the bump to Android 4.0, the HTC EVO 3D which is in line to get Android 4.0, and the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch which is currently Sprint’s best smartphone.

You can see the Epic 4G Touch in our video review below:

Of course, none of them will run on Sprint’s 4G LTE network which will be launching later on this month.

4G LTE data speeds can reach up to 10 times faster than those found on a standard 3G network. In the video below, the 4G LTE enabled Droid Bionic blows away the 3G enabled iPhone.

Sprint’s new network is set to debut with two launch phones, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the LG Viper 4G LTE, both of which are set to launch on Sunday.

The LG Viper 4G LTE is an eco-friendly phone that will retail for $100 while the Galaxy Nexus is Sprint’s 4G LTE flagship and checks in with a $199.99 price tag.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Nexus have already sold out at Sprint.

Those not enamored with either of those devices or the upcoming HTC EVO 4G LTE, might want to check out Amazon’s deal.
