Rumors have been swirling about a possible delay in regards to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. The company has been rumored to be outfitting the device with a quad-core processor to replace the dual-core chip that was originally revealed to be on board. However, Samsung itself has refuted those reports today saying that the device will indeed come with a dual-core processor.

In a statement to Gotta Be Mobile, Ethan Rasiel, Director of Public Relations, Consumer Business Division at Samsung America flat out denied the rumors saying that the Tab 10.1 will not be coming with a quad-core processor on board.

Instead, it will be coming to markets worldwide with a dual-core processor.

Samsung: Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Won't Get Quad-Core Processor

“The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will come to market worldwide as planned with a dual-core processor. Rumors about production delays or changes to the product are false.”

Originally announced back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is Samsung’s latest addition to its tablet lineup. In addition to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, the company also unveiled the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

The Tab 2 10.1 has some pretty interesting specifications on board in addition to the large screen and dual-core processor.

It also features Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and it also features a micro SD slot to expand the on board storage (16GB or 32GB). That’s a feature that Samsung’s current Galaxy Tab with a 10.1-inch screen does not offer.

It’s unclear as to when the device will be launching exactly but we expect Samsung to reveal those details in the near future.
