Galaxy S III Leak Offers Conflicting Details
Yesterday, we thought the Samsung Galaxy S III specifications were all but confirmed but today, a new leak has disputed those specifications and offered some new ones of its own.
SamMobile has leaked a user manual for a device called the GT-I9300 which is thought to be the Galaxy S III. The manual not only reveals some specifications for the device but it also shows us a nice sketch of what could possibly be the first real look at the upcoming Galaxy smartphone.
Thing is, the specifications don’t seem to add up.
Earlier today, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S III would have a 1.4GHz Exynos quad-core processor. The quad-core processor listed here is clocked at 1.5GHz. We also saw some benchmarks yesterday out the processor as being 1.4GHz.
In addition, the benchmark also revealed the screen size to be 4.7-inches, a size that has been rumored for quite some time. This manual says that the display will be 4.8-inches in size.
We also saw a 12MP camera listed yesterday. This lists the rear camera as being 8MP in quality.
So clearly, neither of these add up, and it’s possible that Samsung is leaking information in order to keep people on their toes. After all, this is a device that is said to have the tightest security of any Samsung product launch ever.
Are we seeing two different devices? It’s possible. Are bits of both correct? It’s possible.
Remember, we heard that Samsung might be launching two different models – one quad-core and one with a dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor, so at this point it’s hard to tell what’s what.
We’ll know for sure on May 3rd when the company officially announces the device.
