Radio Shack Offering HTC One X for Cheap

Published

on

In an effort to compete with Amazon’s price point, Radio Shack has begun offering the highly anticipated HTC One X for AT&T for pre-order with an extremely attractive on-contract price.

AT&T is currently offering the HTC One X for $199.99 on-contract. That alone is a pretty good price for a flagship device. However, Amazon and Radio Shack have taken things further. Following Amazon’s lead, Radio Shack is offering up the phone for a mere $149.99 on-contract.

That’s $50 less than AT&T and a price that is definitely worth a look for those thinking about getting AT&T’s upcoming 4G LTE powered smartphone.

The HTC One X will be arriving on May 6th and it figures to be the flagship Android phone on Ma Bell’s network. We went hands-on with the One X, the AT&T version, and absolutely loved it.

You can see it in action in the video below.

And while the AT&T variant won’t feature a quad-core processor like the international model, it does pack some features that are sure to please.

Those include a massive 720p display, a dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, a high quality rear camera, HTC Sense 4.0 over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and of course, 4G LTE data speeds that blow 3G data speeds out of the water.

4G LTE can be seen zipping past data speeds on 3G in the video of the Droid Bionic and iPhone 4S below.

AT&T’s network can pull down data speeds up to 10 times faster than regular old 3G, however, those who are interested in the network and the One X should know that it’s only available in select areas right now.

Right now, the network is only available in a few more than 30 markets which means those who buy the One X where it’s not available will be dealing with HSPA+ until 4G LTE arrives.

HSPA+ is still better than 3G but it’s not quite as fast as 4G LTE.

In any event, Amazon and Radio Shack are probably where interested parties will want to shop for this device and again, it will be officially launching in just a few days on May 6th.

Not a big thing, but Radioshack’s pre order pricing was released way before Amazon started it’s incentive. If anything Amazon is the one competing with Radioshack’s price point.
