Verizon Revives “Droid Does” Ads

Published

on

Verizon has released a new “Droid Does” commercial only this time, it has decided to ditch the robots and the explosions and the action for some real life scenarios with actual humans using Droid devices.

In the new ad, which shows off the Motorola Droid 4, Motorola Droid RAZR and Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, Verizon has taken a completely new direction with its well-known ad campaign.

Before, the carrier launched advertisements that featured futuristic battles with robots and explosions, that while entertaining, failed to connect with consumers.

Here is an example from the campaign that Verizon launched for the Droid Bionic.

My complaint was that there was too little focus on the phones and their capabilities. Well, it seems like Verizon has decided to do something a little different while still using the “Droid Does” slogan.

In the new ad, which can be found below, Verizon touts the all day battery life that Droid offers. This is in reference to the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX which has a 3,300mAh battery that is best in class.

It then shows the Motorola Droid 4 while touting the device’s voice commands, something that comes standard with Android. Motorola’s devices also offer Smart Actions which can be used to automate various tasks.

Lastly, it hypes up the devices ability to perform turn-by-turn navigation, something that does not come stock with Apple’s iPhone.

Sure, the action and explosions were nice, but quite frankly, this is a very well-done commercial that will do more to lure in consumers, something that Verizon desperately needs in its fight for Android supremacy against the likes of AT&T and Sprint which are set to bolster their lineups with the HTC One X and the HTC EVO 4G LTE respectively.

It will be interesting to see if Verizon takes a similar approach with the ad campaign for its upcoming Droid Incredible 4G LTE which is scheduled to be out during the first half of May.

Personally, I hope that it does.

What do you think of Verizon’s new “Droid Does” approach?
