Blue Motorola Droid Razr Coming to Verizon?

It looks like Motorola may be repeating the sins of the past by offering–rather than a completely new and innovative design–a new color of its Droid Razr smartphone for Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The latest hue is blue, and it is rumored to land on May 18th, though neither Verizon nor Motorola has confirmed any details on the color.

The screen grab on Android Central points to a launch date of May 17, though the site itself is reporting that the Droid RAZR in blue will be landing on May 18.

As this is a re-hash of the original Droid RAZR, we can expect the same specs from the original RAZR, including dual-core processors, 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording capabilities, a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED Advance display, and a sleek and slim profile.

At CES, Motorola introduced the phone in white and purple colors.

Blue has been a popular color lately. The Windows Phone 7-powered Nokia Lumia 900 and 800 are both available in blue and Samsung recently announced the Galaxy S III in blue.

In the past, when it came to Motorola’s Razr branded line of flip phones, it’s widely believed that Motorola’s fall from grace is due to the company not innovating enough and just re-releasing the same hardware in a variety of different colors.

Of course, the Droid RAZR isn’t the only smartphone that Motorola is working on these days. The company had also released the Droid RAZR Maxx, based on the original Droid RAZR design, and it is rumored that a larger Droid RAZR model with a 720p HD display will be coming soon in the form of the Droid RAZR HD.
