HTC ThunderBolt Update Rolls Out, Wait for Android 4.0 Continues

By  |  0 Comments

An update for the HTC ThunderBolt appears to be rolling out right now. Unfortunately, instead of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s a bug fix update that should help to resolve a number of issues that owners of Verizon’s 4G LTE smartphone have been having.

HTC ThunderBolt owners have alerted us to the fact that update 2.11.605.19, the update that was detailed for the first time yesterday, is rolling out now to owners and should be available to pull.

While it’s not the Android 4.0 update that ThunderBolt owners have been anxiously waiting for, it is a pretty decent update in terms of the issues that it resolves.

The new software is said to take care of the data connectivity issues that ThunderBolt owners have been dealing with and it also apparently resolves the mobile hotspot issues that have persisted for quite some time.

In addition, the update packs some other fixes on-board including improvements to the default mail application, better device stability which Verizon says will decrease device resets – an issue that plagued the phone back in 2011, and a fix for incoming calls which sometimes displayed the wrong state.

All in all, it’s a pretty decent update and because it’s only a few MB in size, owners should be able to pull and install it in now time and come away with a better experience on their 4G LTE smartphone.

In order to get the update, owners will want to go into the the ThunderBolt’s Settings and then check to see if there is anything new in Software Updates. Once there, there should be a prompt and then an installation process.

The HTC ThunderBolt was once thought to be the phone that could finally keep pace with Apple’s iPhone. That turned out to be far from the truth as HTC and Verizon struggled to patch up the numerous bugs that plagued the device over the course of 2011.

As for the device’s Android 4.0 update, HTC and Verizon have only confirmed that it is coming, but haven’t given any sort of clue as to when owners might expect it to arrive.
