HTC One V Hands On

Published

on

The HTC One V is a member of the HTC One Series of smartphones, which includes both the HTC One X and HTC One S, that were announced back in February at the Mobile World Congress. And while both the One X and the One S have landed in the United States, the HTC One V has not.

We were able to go hands-on with the HTC One V at this year’s CTIA 2012 in New Orleans and we came away impressed, same as we did the first time that we laid eyes on the mid-range smartphone.

The HTC One V represents the lower-end of the HTC One Series although it’s hard to categorize the HTC One V as being a low-end smartphone as it has some pretty likeable things on board.

It features a nice, aluminum unibody design that is a little reminiscent of the Nexus One, a device that was made by HTC. Talk about nostalgia.

It also packs a nice 3.7-inch display that won’t blow your mind but will get the job done for the average smartphone user. It also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor that is dual-core in nature and is the same processor found in both the HTC One X and the HTC One S.

In our experience with the One V, the processor was easily able to handle Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the phone’s operating system, and just about anything else that was thrown at it.

It also packs a 5MP rear camera that isn’t anything to write home about but it’s decent enough for photos and video.

If the price is right, the HTC One V could be a hit here in the United States when it arrives on multiple carriers this summer. While HTC has not yet revealed which American carriers will be getting the device, it’s safe to assume that MetroPCS, Virgin Mobile and U.S. Cellular will be the ones playing host to it.
