New iPad Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 Teased on Video

Those waiting to jailbreak the new iPad with iOS 5.1 might get an opportunity to do so soon as the jailbreak for the operating system has been teaser on video which means a release date should be just a couple of weeks away.

The video teaser was released by developer pod2g who has the jailbreak running untethered on the new iPad. Untethered of course means that users will be able to jailbreak their device without having to plug it into a PC. It’s far more convenient then a tethered jailbreak which requires users to plug in their device to jailbreak, every time the device gets powered off.

In the video, we clearly see Cydia and we also see that the device is having no troubles booting up by its lonesome. Again, this is a good sign that things are progressing towards a public release.

What we don’t see or get from the video are any specifics about when the jailbreak will be released for public consumption. Now that it’s working, it could only be a matter of days or, more likely, it could be a couple of weeks from now.

The new iPad isn’t the only device that should get an untethered jailbreak soon.

An untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S was deemed successful yesterday and it apparently works on both iOS 5.1 and iOS 5.1.1. Like the new iPad jailbreak, there is no official release date for this jailbreak either.

That’s also good news for those that updated their new iPad to iOS 5.1.1, Apple’s latest operating system, as the new iPad jailbreak for iOS 5.1 may work from the get-go on iOS 5.1.1, just like it did for the iPhone.

We should know more in the days ahead.
