GottaBeFunded: Vavo Universal Smartphone Kickstand

By  |  0 Comments

Vavo is a universal stand and mount for smartphones that’s being launched as a Kickstarter project. The compact kickstand can be used with any iPhone and with devices as large as the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Having a kickstand always available makes it easier to use smartphones while seated, especially if you watch a lot of video or video chat.  The Vavo is designed to ride along on your keyring when not in use. When you need a kickstand you simply pull it off your keychain and stick it on the back of your phone. The Vavo uses a specially formulated sticky pad that can attach to more surfaces than suction cups or magnets. It can be reused over and over again, without leaving residue behind.

A lot of smartphone users are lucky enough to have kickstands built into their phones or at least their phones’ cases. The HTC Thunderbolt and HTC EVO series are examples of phones with kickstands built in. The Zerochroma case for iPhone and the Zerochroma for iPad are two of our favorite cases for iOS devices thanks in large part to  their kickstand mechanisms.

I typically use a ZeroChroma case on my iPhone 4S, but I do swap it out for other cases when I need more protection or longer battery life. Whenever I do so I miss the kickstand and being able to go hands free while seated. My Galaxy Nexus is typically naked since it’s large enough on its own. I’d probably use it a little more if it had a kickstand.

The creators of the Vavo is looking to raise $10,000 for the initial production run. So far 158 backers have pledged $3,535 with 46 days to go. The Vavo can be pre-ordered for as little as $10. There are quantity discounts available, topping out at 10 for $80.

Kickstarter is a community that allows inventors to fundraise money to get their projects off the ground before investing in production costs. To back Vavo, visit its Kickstarter page and pledge at least $10.
